ANCIENT REALM

The Virgin River flows through a corridor in the Narrows as the trees begin their transitions of Fall.

I always catch the first shuttle to the Temple of Sinawava in order to best avoid the crowds.  Hiking alone through parts of the Narrows is a replenishing experience.  Without the burdening sight or sounds of others my own senses are heightened.  I feel the crisp air against my face, hear the roar of the river echo around me, and see the warm glow begin to reveal the textured details of the canyon.  On this day I hiked six hours through the Narrows and only let my camera down to play once, but this shot encompasses every part of the Narrows I love.  As the river flowed the trees stood still, their only concern exhibiting the Autumn gradient from green to yellow as the early afternoon glow began to ignite the walls.   As I stood sturdy in a sandbank, a deer ran through the trees, pausing occasionally to feed before skirting down the canyon.  It was nature at her best.
