REUNION IN THE MIST

A couple shares an early morning stroll into the mist of the Grand Prismatic Spring.

With record-setting visits to Yellowstone each passing year, it becomes exceedingly difficult to find a quiet place to call your own.  One of the best chances to find some solitude is in the early morning, when most campers are warm in their tents and park visitors cozy in their cabin beds.   During this time it appears even nature herself is just waking up.  As the soft light spreads across the Park, escalating sounds of birds and light wind can be heard with the smell of sulfur and steam from the hot springs traveling across the air uninhibited by the slow moving masses of humans.  It was during this time I wandered the Midway Geyser Basin and spotted a couple sharing an intimate moment, his arm lovingly wrapped around her body, leading them both towards the orange glow of the Grand Prismatic Spring.  I watched them for awhile (in a non-creepy way) and only took this one image before they disappeared into the mist.  What an incredibly serene moment to share with someone you love.
