SANDS OF TIME
A burning bush lights the path down the sands of time.
Unlike Zion’s main canyon, the Upper East Side is a place to find peace and quiet. Here you can wander the washes for hours, reveling in the amazing Fall colors of its diverse foliage and seek your own sense of solitude. As the years progress I find myself exploring this area more and more, sacrificing the grand landscape for the more personal, intimate composition. One lesson I’ve learned here is to frequently pause, turn around, and look at the path you’ve just taken. I hiked past this tree without giving it a second though, but as I turned around I noticed an intricate pattern of sand transitioning into pebbles then to rocks and boulders culminating in the same tree ablaze with color. It is so easy to miss the surrounding beauty if you continuously barrel on ahead, a lesson learned in life and photography.
