Dense clouds fail to stifle a fiery sunrise above an unwavering lake.

For three straight days and nights the weather reflected my somber mood.  I made this trip not so much for photography but to escape the days, and was really hoping for some nice weather and comfort in the arms of Mother Nature. That was yet to be the case, as chance thunderstorms and dense clouds filled the sky and the park was cold, gray, and wet.   On my last night I felt defeated, wrapping myself in a warm sleeping bag and falling asleep in my car.  A few hours later I awoke to the sound of my alarm and peered out a rain soaked windshield.  I nearly decided to fall back asleep, until my heavy eyes focused on twinkling stars that peeked through an opening in the clouds.  Seeing this as a good sign, I made the drive to Yellowstone Lake where I experienced one of the most peaceful sunrises I have ever seen.  The clouds were ever present but managed to catch enough light that when reflected off the unusually tranquil lake surface created a slow moving kaleidoscope of color.  I do not know how many sunrises Fishing Cone has bore witness to, but I can say on that morning I found solace on the shores of Yellowstone Lake.
