The blue glacial waters flow from Avalanche Lake through cascading steps between moss-covered rocks.

I love the dynamic power of cascades, the way water twists and turns while flowing in the same general direction.  This was shot on a highly traveled boardwalk which required waiting for a break in the crowds to prevent the ground shaking movement of footsteps.  Luckily as I spent nearly an hour here, a golden glow of sunlight burst through the trees to provide an extra element into this already incredible scene.  The natural blue of the water was incredible and completely explained as I continued my hike to its source, the crystal clear Avalanche Lake.  Despite the large crowds on this popular hike, the natural beauty has its way of making you forget about everything else.
